This assistance is for you if:
We may still be able to assist you if you have savings or income or have received support from government but are still unable to cover your expenses. Please complete the form and a member of our team will contact you.
In most cases, you will be supported to stay living where you are. This helps keep everyone in their current home but support will be available to move to different accommodation if needed – for example, if your housemates are moving on.
Payments can be backdated to the start of Alert Level 4 (26 March 2020). If your situation is unlikely to change, we may also be able to make an advanced payment of up to four weeks as part of the same application. You will need to reapply after four weeks if you still need support.
If you have made part payments, we may be able to top up your payments to cover the amount you owe. It does not cover any payments you have already made.
We can only pay the part of your rent, electricity and gas bill that you are responsible for. If you have housemates who also cannot pay their share, they will need to complete their own applications.
All payments will be made to your landlord, accommodation provider or energy company. Payments are subject to verification to ensure the landlord or utility provider receives the funds.
If you are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident eligible for a New Zealand benefit, you should contact Work and Income New Zealand first to discuss your needs 0800 559 009.
If you are a landlord, please get in touch with your tenants if you think they may be eligible, and direct them to this page. Applications can only be received from tenants.
